If mobile phones do not fall into your category, another great method to update your status is via emailing. Not only that, you can even send photos and videos straight to your profile.
For every user, you will be assigned a personalized email by Facebook, also known as upload email. It is not your log in email but an unique identity for you to upload status messages and media files like photos and videos. It looks something like this: [email protected] Look it up at Facebook Mobile (http://www.facebook.com/mobile) at Upload via Email section.
How to Get my Facebook Upload Email Easily?
Simply click at ‘Send my upload email to me now’ right below the section and when the command box appears, key in your own email. Hit Send and you’re done! Check your mailbox to retrieve the upload email. Do make sure you save it for easy posting.

If your email contains photo or video, your email subject will naturally be used as the caption for the media file.
Privacy Issue:
Visibility for each update is set to public viewing by default. You need to tweak it at the Privacy settings at the main page. Make sure you keep the upload email private and never share it in public.
