What one needs to be aware of is the default privacy setting for Facebook – everything is open to tagging and checking in. Let’s see how we can fix the privacy for Places.
Things I Share – Hide Your Places
Checked In users will see a list of profiles who also checked in the same place. Prevent your profile from showing up by unticking the ‘Include me People Here Now’. Customize so that only friends or yourself able to see your checked in Places.
Things Others Share – Disable Places Tagging
Once you are tagged by a friend, you will be notified. If you do not wish to be tagged at all, disable friends’ check-in completely.
