How to Promote Your Facebook Event in Facebook Page
Facebook 101 Tips: How to Promote Your Facebook Event in Facebook Page
What good is a Facebook Event if you’re not going to make it public? Today we will be talking about methods to promote events inside facebook and how you can encourage your fans to share it with their facebook contacts.
- ‘Select Guests’ button
The button is visible right above the ‘Save Event’ in the event-setup page. As an admin, you are given the opportunity to share this first hand info to all your friends or selected contacts who might be interested in your event. You can even import email addresses so an invitation can be sent via Email.
Caution: For non-Facebook members, they will need to click at the given link shown in their invitation email to be brought to the events tab for RSVP. It is important to note that your targeted participants are well guided on how to take part so do send them a personalized message if necessary.
2. Invite People to Come
Can be found on the Events tab dashboard underneath the event picture. It gives the same functionality as the Select Guests button where you can invite friends, email and personalize a personal message to your guests:
3. Promote event with Facebook Ad
It depends on how big is your event and the budget involved. It may not be necessary to publish an Advertisement for it but if you would like to reach out for more targeted facebook contacts, Facebook Ads is right for the job (we will be covering more about Facebook Ads in coming posts).
4. Update Fans of your facebook page
This is to send an update to all your fans in one-go, notifying them about the event.
Or you can do it selectively if not all fans are suitable for the event. For example, if you are holding an event that’s targeting your local prospects, it’s advisable to narrow down your invitations by setting age range and locality. Always think on behalf of your fans so they don’t always get bombarded with unrelated updates; offer them valuable information and what it’s truly necessary based on their needs.
Caution: The downside of this method is that page update will not go directly to their message inbox, but a separate folder named ‘Updates’. If your fans have joined many other pages, most probably they will miss it. You can remind them via occasional mention on the Wall regarding the event.
5. Share button
To attract friends to attend, try to add a personalized message and tell them why you think they are suitable for this event, what’s the main attraction etc. You can even customize so not all of your contacts can see but only selectively. Another way to do this is via the ‘Send as a Message instead’ option at the bottom of the box shown below:
6. Post it on your Page Wall
The newly created event will normally display on your Wall as part of your status updates once it’s launched as a tab. From here either you or your fans can ‘Share’ or ‘Invite Guests’ freely to spread the message.
Besides the mentioned methods, you can also ‘Like’ the event so it shows up in your News streams.
However, it’s important to note that if you are going to create a public event, make sure to provide flexibility in registration/RSVP as clearly, only the invited guests are able to RSVP for the event. If you are welcoming outside visitors to join in, make sure it’s easy for them to receive an invitation. For non-Facebook members, try to provide them a link to your registration page or opt-in form so you can follow up and send them a request to join.
How many people can I invite to the event?
Unlimited, actually. But do note that you can invite up to 100 people at a time, and a maximum of 300 pending invites at one time. This means, these 300 people need to respond to your invitation before you’re able to send out more.
