How to deal with Spammers on Facebook Page
Ever felt annoyed by all those spammy advertising on your page wall? I know, they are despicable. Page wall is meant for networking, sharing all those exciting stories and updates. But once in a while, the spammy-looking comments took the fun away.
So this week we will be introducing you page admins some important settings to deal with spammers on your fan page wall:
1. Spam Filter
Spam filter was only launched few weeks back, and ABOUT TIME! When a spammy post is in sight, mark it spam to be sent to filter. At times, Facebook auto-detects the spams too but how they identify them is beyond me. Multiple links in one post or reported profile? Could be.
Now, this auto-filter is not always accurate so monitor your spam filter well. If they caugth the wrong people, you can easily unmark as spam:
2. Mark a post as spam
If the spammer is violating your wall for their self advertising links, there are two ways you can fix this: mark as spam (sent to spam filter) or report as abuse.
By reporting you are taking serious measures to ban this fan for good. One tick and his post will be gone, including what he had posted before.
3. Remove or revoke application access to your page wall works the same as how you normally would do to spammy-looking posts. Click at the cross to either remove the app or revoke its publishing rights. What differentiates the both is by revoke, the application will no longer post but it will still be kept in your edit page (application).
4. Delete or flag a comment
Page admin can ‘flag’ and report a comment:
You can only undo this action right after you flagged it. Once the option box disappears there is no turning back. So NEVER flag a loyal fan, ever.
Are there any other ways to deal with spammers on a fan page? Do tell us how you did it.
