How to Deactivate and Delete Your Facebook Account

We all know there have been a lot of changes lately in Facebook. Rumors here and there, not to mention some spams and scams are all active and waiting to make their come backs anytime. Some of my friends are actually considering cancelling Facebook due to privacy issues. I had to advise them to think it through, maybe consider to deactivate their accounts first before making the ‘big’ move. So as much I would advise anyone to keep cool, but if you’re one of those people who are looking for a way out (temporary or permanently), there are two choices you have: deactivate or delete your facebook account.

Deactivate your account

1.       Go to Account > Scroll all the way down to the bottom > Deactivate Account

2.       Before confirming your request, explain why you’re leaving. Opt in/out of facebook notification emails:

You can always get your account back by signing in.

Delete your account

This is a point of no return… well, not within 14 days. To delete your account permanently, sign in to your account and submit your delete request here:

You have less than 14 days to change your mind before your account will be completely deleted.

To keep it or not, it’s your call. Think it through before making a choice you’ll regret later.
