How to Create a Private Event on Facebook Account

We have talked a lot about events lately: add and remove admin from a page Event, remove unwanted event from list and block repeating invitation from someone. Today, it is about creating a private event. Before I go on, let’s understand what it means by Private and Public Event:

A private event is by invitation only. It is nowhere to be found in facebook search or news feed. No one can view the event information and wall, except the invited people. Public event is totally opposite from private event. As long the event is public, your friends will know about it from friends’ feed.

Facebook Event is normally public in default. Often times I wonder why some of my friends’ events are private while some are not? I recently found out private event can only be created by personal account only. Take a look at both event setup in facebook page and personal profile separately:

Realize a major difference between the two? Only personal profile has the option box for ‘Anyone can view and RSVP (public event)’. When you un-check the box, the event is marked Private and ‘Guests can invite Friends’ is given. This means making an event private can only be done in personal profile, not fan pages. At least that’s how it is after the upgrade – Introduction of Facebook new profile .

How to hide public events from some people

To hide your public event from someone, you can ban the person after he had RSVP for the event:

Those who are blocked cannot see the event or any stories about it. Unblock anytime from the blocked list:
