How Activity Feed, Recommendations help to extend your facebook fame
Social Plugin: Activity Feed
Activity Feed is another social plugin that deserves a mention here in Faebook.org. The term ‘Activity Feed’ is self-explanatory – to accumulate and display the most interesting recent activities by other facebook users on your website via social plugins such as facebook share and like.
If a user is not logged in to Facebook, a message will prompt him to do so in order to view his friends activities on the site:
The advantage of Activity Feed is to allow facebook users to view personalized content generated by facebook based on their friends’ activities on the site. Say, if your friend has liked a particular content it is more likely for you to react by commenting or pass it along to your other friends.
Social Plugin: Recommendations
Similar to Activity Feed, Recommendations also allows facebook users to view highlighted, personalized content based on friends’ activities on a particular site.
Both are more or less the same. Despite the name difference, another thing that separates them apart is that Activity Feed has a ‘Recommendations’ setting where if the friends’ activity are not enough to fill half of the plugin, recommendations will come in at the bottom half.
Installation Note:
Instead of page ID, you will need to insert the domain before generating the code. Then Facebook will collect the recommendations based on all the social interactions on the site, even when the visitors are not logged into Facebook. But if he did, then Recommendations box will showcase the interactions made by his friends on the site so he will pay more attention to them.
