Facebook Page Introduction | Start A Facebook Page

As you already know it is easy to start a facebook page, but to build popularity for one requires massive effort and worth your time investment. Rest assured you will be guided all the way but before that, let’s get to know some of the important features you’ll come across on a newly created facebook page:

Facebook Page Overview

1. Profile Image

Just like your personal account, facebook page enables you to upload a profile picture to showcase your brand. It is suggested to keep the profile size within 180 x 540 pixels instead of a 200 x 600 dimension –a modification which will soon take place by facebook. If you’re using a large image, make sure your thumbnail is resized as described in How to Upload a Profile Picture to Facebook earlier:

a)      Mouse over the profile image > Click the pencil icon> Edit Thumbnail >Adjust its position

2. Page Settings

This is the dashboard for page admin to control facebook applications and control settings. We will go in depth about this section in later post about application management.

3. Page Information

Similar to your personal account, you are given a limited space to write a brief introduction about your page. Insert website/contact links as how you prefer, remember it is the highest visibility you can obtain in a facebook page.

4. Page Insights

This section is only visible to page admin. From here you can monitor the progress of your facebook page and receive detailed statistics of (fans) interactions on wall posts, their likes and participation in comments. Geographic data based on fans activities, subscriptions, top countries and page views are good indications of page progress.

5. Add Facebook Application

Facebook application plays an important role in building up a successful Facebook Page. As much we encourage networking within the page, using proper applications can enhance your brand image and overall page performances, attracting people to like your page for a better call to actions.

6. Status Updating box

Same as how you post status updates and links on your personal account, in facebook page it works the exact same way.

7. Customize Message Visibility

A control panel for you to decide who shall be able to view your postings. Normally we encourage public viewing for all people who liked your page. Unless you have a specific reason to hide the information from a group of people, you can tweak the setting to meet your needs.

8. Wall Post

All updates ranging from links, status updates, photo, video or any media posting that you display to public will be displayed here.

9. Share page with Friends

A powerful button for people who like your page to share it with their contacts easily with a simple click.

Hi, These are great tips, however, I have already created a page and everything seems to be working well but I tried to create a username for my page but when you type in the URL it takes you to my personal page and not the business page. What do I do to correct it or to establish a username for the page so that when someone types in the URL it will take them to the actual page?

Is it possible you had set the username wrongly to your profile instead of fan page? If so refer to this article to change it back:

You only have one chance to edit your profile username so read through the guide carefully before applying the change.
