Following our previous post, after done checking through your facebook applications and privacy settings, today we will continue to discuss how to protect personal info from been shared by your friends.
Go to Account > Privacy Settings > Applications and Websites
At the new page, click at Edit Settings as shown below:
From the instructions of the page, you will be told why Facebook Friends or applications may share or retrieve your information sometimes. For example, greeting card application, as mentioned will use your birthday information to alert your friends to send virtual gifts or cards to you.
Sometimes, when you share a photo or personal video, your friends may find it’s amusing and like to share with their friends. It may be risky to expose yourself to an unknown audience so control what can be shared or not right now by tick/untick the selections before saving your changes.
Instant Personalization Pilot Program
This is a recently added option after the implementation of Like replacing the ‘Fan’ feature. According to Facebook, if you reach the partner sites of Facebook such as Microsoft Docs.com, Pandora, and Yelp, a notification tab will appear and request for your participation. You can click ‘No Thanks’ every time you’re in. But to save time, you can do a one-go setting by Edit Setting>un-tick the option below:
Caution:
If you are sharing certain information with your friends but not publicly, it’s still possible that your friends may share your info even if you opt out the service or application. Therefore, remember to go through Application Settings and block the application completely from accessing your facebook account again.
